Hello from HOLLAND!
We rented the VW camper from Amy and Martin on the first weekend in June 2019, when there was the famous Cultural Landparties all around the area of (the WENDLAND REGION of Germany) Dannenberg & Lüneburg area. First of all, the camper looks amazing! I’m not big on camping in tents or campers, but my boys love being in the outdoors. Sleeping inside this luxurious camper sounded like a good compromise for our family.
I love what Amy and Martin have done with the camper! It feels like walking into a design room, there are beautiful colors and small intimate details everywhere that give you the feeling you are in a luxurious hotel, instead of a camper van. The inside was totally redecorated with fresh new cool fabrics in a super hip color scheme. Hence the name „Glamping“, it is Camping made Glamorous!
There was a cooler with a bottle of wine waiting for me (yes, for after the drive is done!) so beautiful customer service & Italian leather bags housed the duvets and organic cotton linens which was amazing. There are 2 area’s for sleeping when beds folded out & you can easily fit 4 people into the space. The sleeping areas have very comfortable mattresses. Yes, you can bring your own sleeping bag, or even rent them from Amy and Martin, but if you can sleep under rich cotton duvets, why would you?
Martin took the time to explain all the details, how to fold out the top sleeping bunk, how to set up the top tent area for extra space and what was in all hidden & secret compartments (board games/ stored rugs & camping chairs /etc…) There is a set kitchen with a cooking stove, a sink with running water, a fridge, plates, cups , wine glasses and anything you need, and even space to hang your clothes. If you wanna chill outside you just quickly set camping chairs and there was an outside table for us to use outside for lounging, eating, and BBQ prepping.
There is space to charge your phone and get wifi as well. It is actually all pretty easy, and in a short time we were on the road, driving from one landpartie to the next. The camper drives well and because of the size, you don’t feel like you are in a truck, it fits nicely on the road and is pretty easy to park.
The cultural Landparties in May and June in this area are really amazing & each village has it’s own space, field or barns where they have people get together/crafts/ amazing food/music/regional events. The barns are converted into areas where people perform music, sing, & perform. Pop up galleries where people show their art: photo’s, paintings, ceramics. The talent was endless. Some villages show what can be made with sheeps wool & simply amazing to eat authentic baked goods, Coffee, teas, & regional wines & beer ( of course – it’s Germany)! There are many campgrounds everywhere around the Landparties, so you can walk, see, taste and then go back to your VW and do some Glamping. We chose to camp ‘off the grid’ and the setting along the Jeetze River was breathtaking at sunset & with my morning coffee.
With many renters within 1 hours drive from Hamburg, it is the ultimate way to be part of this event, but I could image a lot of other amazing roadmaps & destinations you can do in this beautiful camper heading south into Austria or even to France or Spain… this will be our next trip! I’m 16 year loved it! We’ll be back next year, and I think I better reserve far in advance because this VW-baby will be scooped up by many I am sure!
Enjoy everyone!!!
